A charming historic fire engine company was converted to a cozy restaurant. The building shell and its features exude charm, yet the design concept was based on creating a new and modern feel to dovetail with the contemporary menus. The client desired a hip restaurant in a converted firehouse, focusing on locally sourced breakfast and brunch creations that were Old Wisconsin yet had a modern twist. Tall, old double-hung wood windows, and exposed cream city brick on the exterior wall provided the right backdrop for the bar and the main dining room. The second floor of the building was transformed into a party room, providing the ability to cater evening events. The dining room can close for dinner to allow the upstairs space to function with ease and cater to larger crowds. The bar was created from salvaged wood originally located in various rooms in the original firehouse.
