University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries have made it a priority to reimagine library spaces across the campus, with a goal to provide inspiring, innovative and welcoming learning environments. The AMP Library Advanced Planning Study explores combining Astronomy, Mathematics, and Physics libraries into a single, integrated library facility.
First recommended in the 2018 Facilities Master Plan, this advanced planning study confirmed and validated the master plan’s programmatic space needs, and enabled the University to move forward with conceptual floor plans. By strategically reusing existing facilities, the University is able to provide a robust and flexible experience for various user groups across the three study areas. The new AMP Library integrates expertise, collections, services and research support tools into one state-of-the-art facility. Additionally, the renovated space will include a range of spaces to support learning and research, including private small-group study rooms, large-group gathering areas, and individual study areas – all of which will be equipped with audiovisual resources to enable a flexible, adaptable learning environment.
