The College Library is one of the most heavily-visited libraries on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. It supports general library services, classroom spaces for numerous programs, provides students with 24-hour access to technology, and is home to the University’s Student Orientation, Advising & Registration (SOAR) program – thus serving as one of the first impressions for incoming freshman.
College Library has resided in the Helen C. White Hall since 1971 and is in significant need of interior renovations to support an ever-increasing variety of services and space needs.
The advanced planning study completed by Continuum allowed the university to evaluate renovation of 98,000 square feet of the building to create flexible, adaptable spaces that can support a variety of programmatic needs. The plans envision new lighting, updated finishes and furnishings and a more unified, modern, and welcoming aesthetic.
