The Kin at Freshwater, located at 200 East Greenfield Avenue, situates itself in a highly developable and engaged space of the Walker’s Point and Harbor District neighborhood. With adjacencies to grocery, restaurants, commercial spaces, and the KK Trail, the site brands itself with access to food, culture, and recreation. The opportunity for this site to connect and engage with the existing Freshwater Plaza allows the design of this mixed-use building to be inspired by Milwaukee’s global brand of being a water-centric city.
The proposed development on ground level will activate the corner of E. Greenfield Avenue and S. Barclay Street with an inviting entrance to the extended Freshwater Plaza – flowing pedestrians and cyclists into the space using cool, undulating tones of blue-hued hardscapes. The water feature will act as storm-water management gardens, that integrate a combination of indigenous plantings, trees, sculpture, and signage.
