Simmons Island/ Kenosha, WI

The Simmons Island Beach House opened in 1935 and was part of a local campaign during the first half of the 20th century to “beautify” the city of Kenosha through the development of public parks and recreational facilities. It was designed by local architect Chris Borggren in the Tudor Revival style and is constructed mainly out of recycled material.

Over the years, weathering and lack of maintenance had caused significant damage to the exterior false half timbers, stucco façade, and windows. 

Continuum has extensive experience with historic rehabilitation projects and was approached by the city of Kenosha to address these issues. The Continuum team performed an analysis of the existing façade and worked with contractors to explore and execute an option that would; restore the façade to its original luster and once again make the building weather tight.
