The new laboratory spaces were created to support growth in the undergraduate instructional needs. The laboratory spaces were designed to be flexible enough to allow for Biological, Chemical, and Biomedical Engineering activities ensuring the ability to adapt to changing curriculum and varied uses over time. They will increase UW’s ability to enhance the learning experience for staff, students, and allow UW to efficiently expand teaching activities, enrollment, and decrease time to degree. The labs were created by gutting and replacing underutilized office space requiring significant infrastructure improvements for sinks, fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, compressed air, nitrogen systems, and snorkel hoods. Convenient support spaces, new casework, lab safety equipment, and complete replacement of the MEP distribution systems.
